We are always interested in recruiting talented undergraduate, summer, masters and PhD students and postdoctoral associates. Please email Dr Wright with any informal inquiries. Our research is interdisciplinary and we welcome applicants with either a chemical or biochemical background.
PhD applicants
We have a PhD project together with Dr Charlie Scarff in the School of Medicine, available for start between Oct 2024 and Jan 2025: Developing live cell crosslinking mass spectrometry methods to investigate cardiac myosin folding and disease. This project is fully-funded at UK fee rates and the deadline is Friday 9th August.
This is an example of a project that you could apply for along with a scholarship or self-funding but we have many other ongoing projects in the group: Unravelling interkingdom signalling using chemical probes (ongoing deadline).
Other project studentships are advertised on the School’s postgraduate web pages throughout the year. Our group welcomes applications from students who are eligible for departmental DTA studentships and University Scholarships (the principal source of funding for international applicants e.g. China Scholarship Council for Chinese nationals).
MSc applicants
The School of Chemistry offers a taught MSc program in Drug Discovery and Development for which Dr Wright is an eligible supervisor for the project component.
Summer students
Please contact Dr Wright if you are interested in doing a summer project in the lab. There are several funding sources available run by the University of Leeds, the Biochemical Society and the RSC. Interested applicants are advised to contact Dr Wright in December / January as many of these programs have early deadlines.
MChem/MNatSci students
If you are interested in carrying out your integrated masters project in the group please contact Dr Wright to discuss potential projects.
