Chemical biology research

Research Interests

Our research interests are in developing creative chemical tools to understand biology and tackle important questions in health and disease. We synthesise chemical probes to detect and manipulate small molecule-protein interactions and modifications in live cells.

The group welcomes Tameryn Stringer, who joins us a teaching and research fellow to help support the group during Megan's maternity leave.
We have a Research and Teaching fellow position available in the group! Deadline 27th November. Please see the link below and contact Megan for further details.

Congratulations to Jaime (middle) who delivered their first external talk at the 9th Symposium on Structural Proteomics in Göttingen this week! Pictured here with Frank Sobott (Leeds) and Andrea Sinz (Halle). Big thanks to Andrea for hosting Jaime in her lab to learn chemical crosslinking for structural proteomics. Beautiful data!
PhD position in chemical and structural biology, together with Dr Mike Webb and Prof Richard Bayliss, on the role of the elusive phosphohistidine protein modification in cell biology and disease. This fully funded BBSRC White Rose studentship would ideally suit a chemist or biochemist keen to apply their skills in interdisciplinary science. The application deadline is 6th January 2020.

Our group welcomes a new member, Pablo, who joins us as a postdoctoral fellow funded by Megan's EPSRC New Investigator Award. Pablo finished his PhD at the University of Leeds in 2019. Welcome Pablo!
Congratulations to Megan on receiving an ACS Infectious Diseases Young Investigator Award! These awards recognise young researchers in the field of infectious diseases. Megan will present the group's work at the Fall 2019 ACS National Meeting & Exposition in San Diego.

Congratulations to Devon on winning the MedChemComm poster prize at Protein-Protein Interactions 2019!
Our group attended ABPP 2019 - Target Discovery and Visualisation using Chemical Probes - in the beautiful city of Leuven, Belgium. Congrats to Devon and James on their first poster presentations at an international conference!

Thank you to our funders. The lab is currently primarily supported by the University of Leeds (University Academic Fellowship to Dr Wright) and an EPSRC New Investigator Award. We are also supported by the Leverhulme Trust and BBSRC.
